I have a big love for sport. My passion and enjoyment for both playing and watching over many years has enabled me to build a strong foundation of knowledge. I am well aware of the highs & lows, the winning & losing, the emotion & drama.

I am also well aware of the impact success and supposed failure can have on an athlete. Managing both of these areas rationally is a difficult task.

My job is to help clients ensure they have the right mental processes in place and that they can utilise them under the most extreme circumstances and pressure.

In recent years NLP techniques have played an ever-growing role in mental performance coaching within sport. The reason is simple - NLP provides a set of tools so user friendly they can be used to make amazing improvements at any level.

At the very top level it is the incremental improvement - often mental strength - that wins championships, trophies and awards.

Fitness and technical ability can vary in degree depending upon the sport, however, the importance of mental skills will remain the same. It is the vital constant.

For years there has been massive emphasis placed on both fitness and technical ability with very little placed on mental skills. Considering the brain is the most important muscle in our body this is somewhat puzzling.

Fitness and technical ability being equal, it is the person with the better mental skills who is most likely to be successful.

Concentration refers to a person's ability to focus their attention solely on the task in hand. When your two minds (the conscious and unconscious) are congruent, you can enter "the zone". At certain times in our lives we have all been in "the zone"; it is the staying there that marks great sports performers.

Will is the extent to which someone is committed to achieving a particular task - their determination. The best sports performers have huge desire and passion for their sport with the ultimate drive for success.

Emotional balance is the degree to which you are able to maintain your emotional state. Psychology has shown there is an optimal level of arousal (this differs in individuals) for best performance.

My job is to help you manage each of these components efficiently and effectively.
